The Right Fit

Do You Recognize Yourself?
My focus as a California Tax Education Counsel Registered Tax Preparer is individual taxpayers. The following list summarizes the kind of client I work with:

  • Individual Taxpayers: From the simplest to the most complex individual returns. This covers everything from home owners, single, married, domestic partners, single parents, investors, landlords, sole-proprietors, retired, working, standard deduction or itemized deductions. In other words everything except the specific situations to the right.
  • Sole-Proprietors: This term applies to any small business run by one person that has not created a separate entity such as an S Corporation.
  • Domestic Partners: Registered or not, same or opposite gender who have combined finances (or not).
  • Single Member LLCs: A limited liability company, run by one manager, doing business in California only.
  • Landlords: Everything from renting a room in your house to a vacation property to multiple rental units.
  • Investors: Active or occasional trading.
  • Honesty is the Only Policy: My pledge to you is to prepare an accurate tax return so that you don't pay more, or less, then your fair share.

May Mean More Searching

Do These Situations Apply to You?
The tax code is twenty volumes, running 13,458 pages and growing. This limits my focus to specific areas. The situations below require your search to continue elsewhere:

  • The following entities are better served by a CPA, accountant or Enrolled Agent:

S Corporations
Partnerships
Trusts
Estates
Multi Member LLCs Foreign LLCs
  • Military: There are many special rules that apply to active military and over the years I have never had a military client, so my continuing education is focused elsewhere. You deserve a preparer with extensive experience with your type of return.

  • Clergy: Same as above.

  • Tax Cheats: O.K. that sounds a little harsh, but unfortunately there are so many promoters of questionable, if not down right illegal tax schemes that honest folks are starting to believe they are missing out on something. There are also many paid preparers that ignore income with a wink or allow inappropriate deductions due to laziness, dishonesty or incompetence. I am not one of them. My job is to prepare your return so that you pay the amount of tax you owe, no more, no less.
