The Right Fit

Do You Recognize Yourself?
In order to give you an idea of the type of individuals that benefit from the Applied Advisor approach read through the following client characteristics. Don't hesitate to call or email if you have any questions.

  • Looking for an advisor rather then a manager: In order to work with people typically ignored by other financial planners I am not able to take over any part of your financial life. I only provide advice and guidance.
  • Willing to invest the time and effort to create and implement a successful plan: You understand the financial planning process is only as successful as the effort you put into it. Your job isn't over once we sign an engagement letter, it has just begun.
  • Enough income to afford my hourly rate, not so much income that specialized services are required: I don't have any requirements other then your ability to afford my fees. Rather then  a minimum income or asset requirement I have a maximum, please contact me for details if your net worth is over $1,000,000.
  • Single/Partnered/Married: My practice is a reflection of San Francisco. I work with the special needs of the Gay and Lesbian community, but that doesn't mean I work exclusively with Gay and Lesbian clients.
  • Willing to make changes: Sometimes small changes here and there make a big impact; sometimes big changes are required. As long as you are willing to do the work outside of the office you can create a healthy relationship with money.

May Mean More Searching

Do These Situations Apply to You?
I am not a good match for everyone. Read through the following to learn more. If any of the following situations apply to you then you should continue your search elsewhere (there are some resources at the bottom of the page).
  • Situations that benefit from specialize advice and experience: My specialty areas are middle and upper middle income individuals or families and gay and lesbian households. I do not have training or experience with the following:

  • Special needs planning for a disabled family member.

  • Divorce planning

  • Bankruptcy counseling

  • Business planning: I do work with people that own a business, but my advice is limited to their personal financial needs rather then the needs of the business.

  • Extremely wealthy individuals: This is a little more difficult to define, but if your household income is above $500,000 and you have many complex investments a Wealth Manger may be more appropriate to your needs. Please contact me and we can discuss your situation.

  • Looking for someone to take over:
I do not manage portfolios. I provide advice and implementation strategies only.

  • No time to participate: Financial planning can be successful only if you are an active participant in the process.

  • Not prepared for the out of pocket cost of hourly advice: Unless you have very limited needs a good financial plan or analysis takes time and under my fee structure time is directly related to cost. Visit the Planning Prices page for additional information.

  • Looking for get rich quick ideas: There a plenty of books and seminars out there to help you do that. I only provide sound financial advice to secure your financial future.
